By invitation of the ASU Art Museum, this piece was donated for a charity auction to benefit the Ceramics Research Center. The event, "Ceram-a-rama", ran March 4 thru 7.

Unique Compositional Human Form Juxtaposing a faithful representation of the human form against my vision of the composition beyond the body. What is omitted is just as important as what is drawn, creating motion, tension and form that is evocative of something other than the flesh.
Black & White Pencil, as the medium of choice, allows for subtle layering of hundreds upon hundreds of strokes. Progressing from harder leads in lighter shades to softer, darker leads, I am able to create the silky, textured contours revealed by the play of light and shadow. Further, the choice of black and white removes the immediate suggestion, or distraction, of the flesh, allowing the mind the freedom to embrace the broader possibilities of the composition.
